The stakes at last night's debate couldn't have been higher. Had Mitt Romney not shown up ready to take on the incompetent ideologue, the media would've called on him to suspend his campaign. But that wasn't the case. This was one of the strongest debate performances in recent memory because Romney put in the effort to study Obama's failed policies and he understood them like clockwork. As Sean Hannity put it, it was a Rocky Mountain smack down. But don't get fooled, there's still one month left.
This is what happens after four years of an elite media coddling President Obama and not asking him the tough questions. How Obama got the reputation of being a master debater lies with the press, which created this ficticious image of their Messiah. Obama looked worse than an amateur tonight; he couldn't even explain his own policies, adding to the notion that he likely never read them.
Romney's best act was calling Obama a liar without calling him a liar. He didn't let Obama get away with his lies and smears, which is the exact opposite of the Obama campaign. Obama wouldn't even look Mitt in the eye, which says so much about his character. He has nothing but contempt for Romney and his supporters because of his Marxist ideology. By Obama's account, there's no reason to show up to the debate - his re-election should be a mandate.
Hands down, Mitt Romney won this debate. It was an incredible performance by someone who has actually worked and created jobs in his life. Obama's performance was pitiful, but that's the media's fault - they conjured up a ficticious image of the president that Obama simply cannot match. Community organizers typically don't have strong debate backgrounds.
However, there is a 'but' to this article. There are three debates left, with the final debate being the most important as that's what the media will discuss up until election day. And if Romney slips up, expect a barrage of attacks from the media. Team Obama will learn from this and the spin will go into overtime. David Axelrod and his 1930's German mustache and deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter, a walking disorder, have already started to double down. They're acting as if the debate never happened. They lie like it's nobody's business to avoid talking about what Obama couldn't communicate last night.
Don't be surprised if parts of the debate were intentionally planned as part of an Obama campaign strategy. They needed to see how Romney would react to certain accusations and what he'd pounce on. Notice how Romney's 47% remark wasn't mentioned? There's no doubt in my mind that was intentional - they'll wait until the final debate to mention that to resurrect it.
We can't forget who we're dealing with here: a group of radical liberal ideologues that will do anything to stay in power. Romney was sharper than a knife and nothing should distract from that, but this is the Chicago Political Machine and they don't go down without a fight and threats.
