President Obama is slowly starting to mention Obamacare and its takeover of the health care system on the campaign trail. He knows it's only popular with radical liberals, and is therefore hesitant to mention it because over 70% of Americans want the law repealed. Last week at a campaign stop in Colorado, Obama tried to define the law and how health care in America should be. He mentioned that politicians shouldn't control the care people get, which is exactly what happens in Obamacare.
Here's the quote:
Now, let me tell you something, Denver — I don’t think your boss should get to control the health care that you get. I don’t think insurance companies should control the care that you get. I don’t think politicians should control the care that you get. I think there’s one person to make these decisions on health care, and that is you. You should make that decision.
No, this wasn't the moron Joe Biden making one of his boner comments on the campaign trail. It was almost as if Obama didn't read his own health care law! Oh wait, he likely hasn't. All he knew is that the government was going to control the health care industry, which was good enough for him. What's so ironic is the line where he says that politicians shouldn't control the care an individual gets - Obamacare puts health care control in the hands of politicians!
Whether it's IPAB, which is a board of unelected bureaucrats that monitor and limit costs of Medicare, or HHS forcing individuals to purchase health insurance or be fined. Here's an interesting perspective on politicians being involved in Obamacare from The Washington Examiner:
The entire thrust of Obamacare is to allow politicians to control the type of health care Americans get. In addition to mandating the purchase of insurance coverage, the law defines what constitutes insurance. So once the law fully kicks in, not only will Americans have to purchase coverage, but they’ll have to purchase the type of coverage that’s been approved by the Secretary of Health and Human Services in accordance with the specifications set by the politicians who passed Obamacare. The law also sets up exchanges, a mechanism for subsidizing individuals to purchase insurance. But any policy offered on the exchanges has to be a “qualified health plan” that offers an “essential health benefits package.” Just a taste, from Section 1302 of the law:
“Subject to paragraph (2), the Secretary shall define the essential health benefits, except that such benefits shall include at least the following general categories and the items and services covered within the categories:
(A) Ambulatory patient services.
(B) Emergency services.
(C) Hospitalization.
(D) Maternity and newborn care.
(E) Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment.
(F) Prescription drugs.
(G) Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices.
(H) Laboratory services.
(I) Preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management.
(J) Pediatric services, including oral and vision care.
We're going to side with the belief that Barack Obama never read the most transformative bill that was rammed into law in American history. The government, politicians and unelected bureaucrats are at the core of Obamacare and forcing the individual to confirm to their perverted view of how a health care system should function.
