Illegal Alien Arrests Plummet Under Obama

It shouldn't come as a surprise that the most pro-amnesty, open-borders president in recent history hasn't done his constitutional duty to protect America.  Under Obama, arrests of illegal immigrants on the southern U.S. border have dropped significantly, which is a serious threat to America's safety.  What's more is that President Obama has blatantly lied to the country and claimed that deportations of illegal immigrants have increased under his tenure.  Not only is that statement false, but reality is at the extreme opposite, with illegal immigration arrests rising to a level that's the highest since the 1970s.  Obama, unconstitutionally, has enacted the DREAM Act by government fiat to impose his big government, open-borders policy.

Arrests of illegal migrants trying to cross the southern U.S. border have plummeted to levels not seen since the early 1970s, according to tallies released by the Department of Homeland Security last week, a historic shift that could reshape the debate over immigration reform.

The Border Patrol apprehended 327,577 illegal crossers along the U.S.-Mexico border in fiscal year 2011, which ended Sept. 30, numbers not seen since Richard Nixon was president, and a precipitous drop from the peak in 2000, when 1.6 million unauthorized migrants were caught. More than 90 percent of the migrants apprehended on the southwest border are Mexican.

The number of illegal migrants arrested at the border has been dropping over the past few years but appears to be down by more than 25 percent this year.

Experts say that Border Patrol apprehensions are a useful marker for estimating the total flow of illegal migrants, though imprecise because the U.S. government has no idea how many are not caught. But coupled with census and labor data from both countries that show far fewer Mexicans coming to the United States and many returning home, it appears that the historic flood of Mexican migration north has slowed dramatically.

For those that haven't caught on to the Obama administration's little game that they play, it's all about supporting their union pals and other extreme constituencies, like La Raza (translated to "The Race").  Many of the illegal immigrants join labor unions, which donate heavily to Obama's re-election campaign, so Obama needs to scratch their backs and keep the circle of dystopia in flux, even if it puts Americans in danger.

Illegal immigration is an extremely important issue for America, as there are at least 11 million illegals living within America, benefitting from the system that they're not paying into.  Something has to be done about them in a respectful and lawful manner.  The takeaway from this article is that Obama is again doing whatever he wants, despite Congress voting against the DREAM Act.
