President Obama is good at making campaign stump speeches that he reads off of teleprompters. Other than that, he is awful at public speaking, and last night's State of the Union address was no exception. Incoherence was the main theme, alongside class warfare and envy. He hit on all of the liberal talking points to energize his extreme base, while throwing out a few points to attract the independents. Overall, it was unmemorable, as most State of the Unions are. The country was re-introduced to a president that refuses to accept responsibility for his failures, while accepting responsibility for successes that he had nothing to do with. This was a State of Confusion speech filled with lies to pit Americans against one another. Ah yes, the envy of liberalism.
It's a waste of time to recap the speech because of the blatant falsities and, frankly, it was just too boring. However, a few items stood out:
- He mentioned Obamacare in two sentences without addressing the name of the bill. He spent 14 months of his presidency on socializing America's health care industry, a major accomplishment for socialist liberals, and failed to mention it. He knows how unpopular it is.
- When praising General Motors as taking back the title of the world's largest automobile manufacturer, he failed to mention the tsunami that helped GM get this title, that TARP was a Bush policy that he expanded and that Ford didn't take bailout money, but spoke as if they did. And Chrysler is also part-owned by Fiat.
- Obama focused on oil importation and the declining number of illegal immigrants entering America. What he failed to mention was that this is due to the U.S. economy being so pathetic that less people are driving because gas is so expensive and because so many people are out of work, resulting in less gasoline being consumed, and illegal aliens are coming to America because there aren't enough jobs.
- The military was a key point for him, but, again, he failed to mention that he's slashing their budget and has made decisions based on political reasons, not what the generals are recommending.
- There was no mention of the Keystone XL pipeline, which Obama just killed to appease his radical enviro-Nazi base. He did obsess of green energy, but not the failure Solyndra, which he touted last year.
- He plans to bailout homeowners who can't pay for their mortgages, many of which were given to them from banks that were forced because of government regulations. Again, liberals refuse to take responsibility for the housing crisis.
- Wall Street remains the bad guy, yet they're some of his biggest donors.
Overall, it was beyond a pathetic speech. There is a new meaning to the term empty suit after last night. Obama wanted to make Americans think that he had just taken office, which is why Obamacare, Dodd-Frank and the stimulus weren't mentioned. And a Financial Crimes Unit headed by Eric Holder? Obama has an agenda to paint Wall Street is the criminal, when all he has to do is look in his Cabinet (no, Michelle, not the one in the kitchen where your organic food lives).
The Republican National Committee put out a great video detailing how his familiar rhetoric has failed.
Obama is proof that, literally, anyone can get elected as president. This was a State of Confusion speech.
