Boehner Revises Debt Ceiling Bill as White House Threatens Veto

E-mail Print PDF

Once again, this isn't Groundhog Day. After calls for shared sacrifice, compromise and birthday cakes made of rainbows in his Monday night press conference, President Obama's White House staff again threatened to veto House Speaker John Boehner's debt ceiling bill. Essentially, Tuesday was a claptrap and a complete waste of a day as the GOP tried to get bipartisan support on Boehner's bill, but couldn't even muster enough votes from their base to pass it. If this nonstop rigmarole was as exciting as Congressman Barney Frank's gay brothel that he operated out of his house in the 1980's, it'd be much more interesting. It's not, but it certainly highlights how demagogic President Obama and his liberal cronies are when they don't have a solution.

Thanks to President Obama's arrogant explanation, Americans now know what this debt ceiling thingy is. Vice Idiot Joe Biden must have given the President some of his plagiarized work to figure the issue out. Additionally, we also know that corporate jets, the wealthy and oil producers are on the FBI's Most Wanted list for holding America hostage and putting them in this fiscal mess. Fortunately, that's not true, but it certainly shows how fanatic Obama's focus group minions are at crafting their message, regardless of the truth.

News broke last night that Boehner scrapped his plans to bring his bill to a vote today and is instead waiting until Thursday. The reason is because he doesn't have the votes and the CBO score wasn't as good as he expected. It barely addresses the issue, which is the out-of-control spending in Washington. Boehner's bill would only cut the deficit by $850 billion, not the $1.2 trillion he originally claimed. Both amounts are a hair plug on Chuck Schumer because they're counted over a 10-year period, thus they're spread out and hardly address the immediate problem. For whatever reason, many politicians don't see the severity of this situation.

Boehner will be modifying his bill to get more support from the conservative base, which is needed. The liberal base doesn't care about the issue, so it doesn't really matter what they think. To fight the inevitable argument, if liberals cared, then where is their plan? There isn't one. The modified GOP bill will likely include higher savings and or the Cut, Cap and Balance that Democrats refuse to endorse because it's a measure from the GOP. As Senator Jim DeMint (R - SC) said, "The fact that the President won't even consider balancing the budget over the next ten years is frightening." And he's spot on. Bush was a spendaholic, but Obama is Bush on steroids and his spending has not helped the economy, but rather has divided the nation.

With the White House chief propagandist and Harry Potter stunt-double Jay Carney stating that Obama will veto the Boehner bill, it's time to call his bluff.

"The Speaker's proposal cannot pass the Senate, will not pass the Senate, will not reach the president's desk. We have a divided government. We have a two-party system. No party controls every branch of government. Compromise is the only option."

It's now clear that the White House is opposed to any GOP backed plan. Unfortunately for them, the Democratic party has only put together one bill, which almost mirrors Boehner's bill, was started just eight days before the August 2 deadline, knowing it won't pass the House. An Obama speech can't be scored, but the strategy behind that is there's nothing in writing, so they can't be blamed. As more details unravel of the behind-the-scenes, politburo talks on the deficit and debt ceiling debate, there has been compromise. However, the great uniter, Barack Obama, told Harry Reid to toss his joint bill with Boehner into Michelle's organic garden over the weekend because it was a short-term solution. For Obama, he needs to focus on his 2012 re-election campaign and can't be distracted by these irrelevant issues. Pathetic? Yes. Surprising? Is the Pope German?

When Obama interrupted primetime television on Monday night to give a campaign speech as if he was speaking to the Democratic National Committee, one and only one of his possessed skills was shown: community organizing. The phone lines and websites on Capitol Hill yesterday almost doubled in volume! America finally got to see the roots of our president. It's just unfortunate for him that his speech provided absolutely nothing to the debate.

I can't believe this stuff is supposed to be so satirical and funny that it made to the top of google news.

Its juvenile writing at best, and unintelligible blubbering at worst.

Learn to write first, kid. I suspect you have a point or two there somewhere, and if you learned to really write, you may be able to bring them across, and perhaps even be funny!

Yeah, ummm, it is funny when you consider how close to the truth it is, do you even know what Satire is?

I agree.
This Satire sounds more like anti Obama ranting and is
not constructive.
I too am disappointed in Google.
I fail to see any humor or satire.
Is Google also anti Obama.
I'm starting to wonder.

Satire defined:

1. The use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.

So it's not only about humor, as many often think.

It seems that the people complaining about this site are typical liberals that want to silence the opposition. Google includes the Huffington Post, NY Times & Fox in their results, so they take all political angles. Just because you don't like the view doesn't mean it shouldn't be Included online, but we know that's not what you want.

Liberals will find any reason to silence the opposition. Clearly many people don't know the definition of satire. It doesn't have to be fake.

Actually, I am a proud registered Independent, I have served in the military as two generations before me did, and I agree with the person who said that most Americans are not part of a "base", they are moderate and in the middle. It's just the lunatic fringe you hear from--like this. I do not want to silence the opposition--bec ause I HAVE NO OPPOSITION except to stupidity. The Tea Party is really a third party of people who do not grasp the Russian Roulette they are playing with the world's economy, and sham on any of you who believed this was a good idea, to send proud know-nothings to Congress because you were MAD. Tax rates are the lowest under Obama since Eisenhower. You are entitled to your own opinions, not your own FACTS.

I'm a registered Republican here. This is not satire. That doesn't mean it's wrong, but please, don't hang the value of your arguments on the definition of the semantics.

Americans are too used to fighting amongst ourselves over the petty and semantical differences we hold. We should be helping each other through our common problems to find solutions for the ills our leaders have brought to us, whether that's war, debt, or irresponsibilit y.

Yeah! Its not just the liberals that wish to silence the opposition, but the the radical fascist conservatives (many who have found their way into congress along with their fascist budies in the media) who wish to supress not just the opoinions of those they disagree with but their ability to do so. Liberal or conservative, they both slither out from under the same rock.

True, there is no hope in government. However, government, hopeless as it is, is what represents the people. When it falls (on Aug 2 or whenever), there will not be anarchy, or perfect freedom, or anything like that. Something always fills a power vacuum, and if the government is gone, then what fills it will not represent the people at all.

This is clearly not satire. Satire involves irony or other techniques to add humor, not just name calling. This is a rant, ideology based ridicule.

As far as why it is on Google News - Google computers rank articles by particular scores, for instance how many people reference that article. It's just a big computer folks, it can't actually understand what it is presenting.

I think this is the best news I've read all day! Both parties are a bunch of pansies. What's interesting is the comments are worse than the article itself, which is better than most news articles.

Another fact to ponder..... 535 people control the direction of this country. Can't we locate another 535 people that can run it better??

Lastly, the president isn't soley responsible for anything regarding budgets or laws. He can only propose budget, not pass them individually. Passing them is up to who...that's right, ALL of our congress!

There's no hope in goverment, only in the Lord.

The problem with finding another another 535 people is that anyone smart enough to do the job is too smart to take it. As for the Lord, expecting him to forgive all of this stupidity is a tall order

What a bunch of crud! Toe ven try and defend BONER's plan is lunacy. To say "at least the GOP has a plan," is like trying to defend a child molester, "at least he never penetrated that poor child!"

The only logicl plan is to raise the debt ceiling like they have done 70+ times before. AND THEN, begin writing legislation that immediately reduce our deficit. Start with creating tax revenue, close the tax loopholes on those asshole corporations that are setting up shop overseas to avoid taxes. And get rid of the fucking tax vacation the wealthiest americans have been given for the last decade.

Oh and someone go find G.W. string him up to a tree and stone his ass for these god awful elitist tax breaks and costly wars!

Apparently there are things now called "liberal base" and "conservative base", My instinct tells me we're split between those who give a damn about people and those who don't. The Walmart instinct that we have have something on the cheap and not hurt anything is alive and well in both houses.
The Republicans are dumb and dumber at this point. Democrats don't have to enter that gutter.
The simply solution stares at those vacuous heads. Raise the debt ceiling,
They all can then get into the gutter and do whatever it is they do for over $171,000 per year.

-12 # Wow such an intellectual arguementInnocent 2011-07-27 10:18
Wow you were so articulate I almost fell off my seat laughing. So raise the debt ceiling and then what? "The Republicans are dumb and dumber" wow shocking... So why did the Democrats not raise the debt ceiling when they controlled the House and the Senate? You do know they put it up to a vote before the Republicans took the house right?

The truth is the Democrats refuse to accept reality. Bush spent too much, but lets face it Obama puts Bush to shame. He claimed he would get us out of wars. Has he done so yet? Nope. Has he cut spending? Nope. Has he raised taxes ( he could of he controlled both the house and the Senate remember? But he didn't.

So hate to say it, I don't think the Republicans are the stupid ones here and how short a memory people like you have is rather frightening.

The entire republican party is based on anti-intellectu al emotional based attacks, rather than using the slightest bit of fact, or tact for that matter. Think church of Scientology: a good offense is better than having an idea worth defending.

The people that represent us and make up our government are spending like they are drunk and out on the town, while the rest of us are sitting at home saving and going without. BALANCE THE DAMN BUDGET! How can people be missing this basic basic tenet of a healthy economy? Americans should be pissed.

-12 # RE: Boehner Revises Debt Ceiling Bill as White House Threatens Vetopaul far 2011-07-27 11:39
That is correct, Obama has no plan to balance the budget. Entitlements are protected while jobs are bleeding because of his scare tactics to tax the job providers further after his healthcare tax passed. Even the president did not learn the proverbial goose that lays the golden eggs. No wonder the economy has gotten sour during his 1st term. Dingdong!

Oh by the way, the President keeps blaming the Republican in case of default. At least the Republicans did its constitutional duty to pass a bill to avoid a default. It is actually the president that can cause a default when he will use his veto power.

Veto power will trigger default. I hope a lawyer like Obama really understand that, or he just took the American public for a ride.

You can't place the blame entirely on the creators of this sad attempt at satire. Blame their parents, and the way they were brought up terribly isolated and undersocialized . No doubt they were home schooled in hate, then sent off for studies in advanced hatred at places like Liberty University. They only repeat the bile they've been fed since the breast. There is no such thing as humor among the humorless right wing. Only dull, unimaginative, idiotic hate.

First off, getting out of a war or wars is like getting divorced, it is a long process. Getting married is easy getting unmarried isn't. So think of the two wars as a marriage that Bush got us into and now getting divorced is a long drawn out process. It surprises me that raising the debt ceiling wasn't an issue when Bush was president and was raised 7 times but now it is. In addition Cantor wants to be Speaker and the idiots in the tea party have no clue to the economic problems the US defaulting on a debt that was incurred before Obama was president will have on the world's economy. I am a working class American and I have to tax loops holes that lets me pay less taxes so why should the wealthy or corporations have them? And if you follow business news you would notice that most of the profit that corporations are making are being used in attempts to take over other company's.

+8 # RE: Boehner Revises Debt Ceiling Bill as White House Threatens Vetotman05 2011-07-27 18:44
If the President of the country is willing to pay more taxes...the leader of the United States of America. Why in the world should other wealthy (GOP) be so adamant about not closing tax loop holes? How is raising taxes a job killer because last time I looked I didn't see any jobs being created due to lower taxes. Clinton raise taxes and the economy took off and when he left office there was a 3 trillion dollar surplus. Of course we know that GWB went through that and then put the country in debt. Bone head Boehner and Can't do Cantor are two of the biggest idiots in Congress. The President still has the power to declare a State of Emergency if Congress can not get to an agreement to raise the debt ceiling, then that is the only option left to pursue. And to declare a State of Emergency the President does not need to consult Congress.

Roy Blunt the ex governor of Missouri screwed all the people who elected him and man did they scream bloody murder when he cut off all there benefits. All those people in rural areas were left without health insurance or means for medical assistance. Interesting that when it came time for re-election he decided not to run.

This article is disrespectful to the position of Vice President of the US and VP Biden. Calling someone an Idiot is beyond vial. It’s equivalent to spitting on someone. Justin Credible the writer crossed the line. The comment towards the First Lady was also disrespectful. This is beyond satire. Habledash, hiding behind the First Amendment does not cut it here. I staunchly believe in the First Amendment just as much as anyone else; however, giving someone the platform to outright disrespect another person is wrong. Would you have published Credible’s article if he had said Jew are idiots; or Islam is for Idiots? What if I wrote an article targeting the charter of the mothers of Habledash's staff and called them whores, bit$#@*, and stupid--it wouldn’t be appropriate. We all can have our political views, but we must respect each other. If you can’t find the decency to respect the man/woman occupying a position within our government, you can at least respect the position.

In stead of being critical of the writer of this article, which by my estimate just took up space on this site. I will just consider the source and move on to more important issues.

I can assure you all that if Congress does not raise the debt limit by 8/2 there will be no default because the country will then have reached a state of emergency and the President will use his authority as President under the 14th Amendment to raise the debt ceiling.
