Judge Susan Bolton, a Clinton appointee and judicial activist, blocked key provisions in Arizona's immigration bill today, hours before it turned to law. Â There's no question that the White House was involved with this decision, as they started this fight a few weeks ago by calling the bill "racist," but later admitting that they hadn't even read it. Â This proved their ideological motive behind stopping the bill. Â It didn't matter what was in the bill, liberals and the White House had made up there minds. Â And today Judge Bolton ruled in favor for the federal government, but their victory is at the expense of America, which it's not surprising that liberals are celebrating.
Known as SB 1070, Arizona's non-controversial immigration law simply enforced the federal law. Â But today the liberal activist Judge Susan Bolton blocked a key provision to SB 1070 that "prevents Arizona from requiring police officers to determine the immigration status of anyone they stop or arrest. Â It also strikes down the provision making it a crime not to carry immigration registration papers and the provision that makes it a crime for an illegal immigrant to seek or perform work."
But there are some good elements of the law that weren't blocked that will help stop illegal immigration.
- If a law enforcer suspects someone of being an illegal immigrant, said individual can be asked for their papers and they're required by Homeland Security to provide this information.
- Arizona will be able to block state officials from so-called sanctuary city policies limiting enforcement of federal law.
- It's required that state officials work with federal officials on illegal immigration.
- Allow civil suits over sanctuary cities.
- It's a crime to pick up day laborers.
The ability for civil lawsuits against sanctuary cities is crucial, as is making it illegal to pick up day laborers/wetbacks. Â Arizona state Representative John Kavanagh made very valid points about day worders.
"We have a big problem with day laborers standing on the street disrupting traffic, disrupting communities, scaring people, and that part of the law withstood constitutionally. Â We'll be able to clean up that mess."
As busloads of SEIU union thugs caravan to protest Arizona's immigration law, liberals were handed a modest victory today. Â What's now crystal clear is the sick obsession that liberals have with race and racism. Â They were so concerned about racial profiling that they focused solely on the element of illegal aliens being required to carry their papers and being asked about their immigration status. Â With their attention honed in on racism, they missed other issues about sanctuary cities and day working wetbacks.
This is just another example of liberals celebrating something that's bad for America.
