Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced today that the Senate has abandoned their radical Cap and Trade agenda of regulating emissions. Passed last year in the House of Representatives by a vote of 219 - 212, the undocumented President Obama and his liberal cohorts were banking on the Senate to pass the American Clean Energy and Security Act to complete the trifecta of taking over the health care industry, the financial industry, and the very air we breathe. With Cap and Trade gone, Americans don't have to worry about the cost of the next breath they take.
Of course, Democrats blamed Republicans for the bill not making it through the Senate. And no thanks to Lindsey Graham (R - SC), an incompetent moron if there ever was one, it almost had the votes to pass. Republicans opposed the bill because of the extreme costs and taxes that it would add to nearly every activity an individual did. Cap and Trade was essentially a national energy tax that would have killed thousands of jobs. Costs imposed on manufacturers would have been passed on to businesses, which would have then been passed on to consumers.
Some believe that the Climategate incident from last winter, where thousands of leaked emails revealed climate scientists systematically worked to distort the facts of climate change to further their radical agenda, was another reason that the bill failed to pass. When America saw the manipulation of science and data for the sole purpose of increased regulation, higher energy costs, and job loss, it was likely one of the key reasons the bill failed. Sure the liberals and enviro-Nazi's claimed Climategate was fabricated and acted as if it were a non-issue, but the public's trust dipped tremendously.
Conveniently hidden under the title of the American Clean Energy and Security, passage of the bill would have been detrimental to America. Climate change, global warming, or whatever liberals are calling it today, is not a proven science, despite what the media spews. Climate change is cyclical, something that even liberals can't control, but greatly want to.
America is already on a crash course with the passage of Obamacare and the so-called Wall Street reform bill, which does nothing to regulate the actual causes of the housing and financial meltdown of 2008. Adding Cap and Trade to the mix would have literally crippled this country beyond recognition. Senate Democrats are now working on a scaled-down version of the bill that targets BP and the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and improves energy efficiency. Although the bill is dead, don't expect Obama not to summon his minions and find a way to sneak this regulation into something completely unrelated.
At least the enviro-Nazi's don't have something to celebrate today. Anytime the greenies win, America loses, badly.
